Physical Education
Physical Education is a opportunity for students to gain skills
in activities that they will be able to use for a lifetime. The
object of this class is not to see who is the best athlete, but a
chance for students to develop lifetime fitness activities.
Two important qualities that will be needed for a successful class
are
attitude and participation. We might not always prefer the unit
that the class is
studying, but remember what might not be important to you could be
very important to someone else. Physical Education is a chance for
students to work together as members of a team or as an individual
in learning to improve a skill. So along with attitude,
participation is important for students in the classroom. Come to
class with a positive outlook and we will have an enjoyable
year.
Clothing: The following clothing is required and acceptable for
activity.
1.) Shorts or Sweat pants
No Cutoffs
No Team Uniforms
2.) Shirt or a sweat top
3.) Tennis Shoes
4.) Socks
For each day students bring his or her clothes they will earn 5
pts. Forgetting clothes will result in a loss of 10 pts.. If
students forget their clothes they will be required to make-up the
time that is missed. If a student forgets their clothes four times
in a Quarter the students grade will result in an F.
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory for Physical Education
classes. Students need to meet by the gym doors when the bell
rings, not wandering down the hall or in the commons taking food
from other students. If you are late to class bring a pass.
Students will dress out for activity on Monday-Wednesday-Friday and
have weightlifting on Tuesday and Thursday. An un-excused absence
will result in a loss of 10 pts from a students grade on the first
instance and an additional 10 pts each time after.
Un-excused Absences:
1. No Clothes
2. Removed from class for discipline problems
3. Skipping class
4. Leaving class before the bell rings
5. If a student has a medical reason they need to bring a note from
their doctor!
Locker Rooms: Please no horseplay in the locker rooms.
Students will have 5 minutes to get dressed and 10 minutes to
shower. The five minute time limit will be enforced. Each student
that is on time on the gym floor in five minutes will earn 5 points
for being on time, Those after five minutes will lose five points.
By being to go on time we can get through our warm-ups and into the
activity, which allows more time for students to enhance their
skills.
Any horseplay in the locker room will not be tolerated and will
result in a loss of five points from the students grade for the
first offense and second offense and removal from the class for a
third offense.
1.) Fighting
2.) Taking another person’s clothes
3.) Damage to the locker room
4.) Food in the locker room
5.) Using a cell phone
Please have respect for other peoples property. Remember to lock up
your clothes, do not leave an unlocked locker when leaving the
locker area. If you have valuables give them to myself to lock in
the coaches office.
Attitude/Participation:
Students will earn 5 points for showing a positive attitude and
a
willingness to participate in the activity. This also includes
listening to the instructor during warm-ups. Failure to do so is a
loss of five points.
Ways in which attitude and participation are evaluated:
1.) The student is enthusiastic and complete task thoroughly. They
are able to
disagree respectively. They encourage each other.
2.) The student completes task and follows instructions, but
extends no extra
effort.
3.) The student needs to be encouraged and is slightly
disruptive.
4.) The student has a negative attitude and creates a poor learning
environment for others in the class.
5.) The student participates reluctantly or not at all. Will be
removed from class.
No foul language will be tolerated. Any student caught by the
instructor
will perform 10 pushups along with losing 5 pts from their attitude
and
participation grade.
