Andrew Foutch Making History

Taylor Curtis Also Making Noise

Andrew with his dad, Jeff and mom, Dee after career win #200

Underwood High School senior Andrew Foutch is making history on the wrestling mats around Southwest Iowa.  Andrew, who is a three-time state place winner already, recently recorded his 200th career victory as a high school wrestler by winning the Guthrie Center Tiger Invitational.  That mark puts him in extremely elite company, making him the third wrestler in Iowa High School history to reach the 200-win plateau.  Andrew joins Jack Hathaway from Iowa City West (200 wins) and T.J. Seboldt from Centerville (207 wins) in that rare group of wrestlers.

Earlier this season Andrew broke the Underwood school record for career wins, eclipsing the mark set by former state champion and eventual Division III National Champion (at Wisconsin, Steven's Point) Cody Koenig, who had accumulated 188 career victories.  He also surpassed his former teammate Drake Fanslau and the legendary Blu Wahle, who both had amassed 187 wins.

Foutch's teammate Taylor Curtis has also been climbing the career wins leaderboard by notching his 160th career win.  That puts him at 9th on the Underwood list with a possibility of chasing down #8 Scott Hazen (166) and #7 Keith Clausen (170) by season's end.   Hazen and Clausen are both former state champions for the Eagles as well.
