FROM THE DESK OF THE SUPERINTENDENT...

SEPTEMBER 2015 DISTRICT DISPATCH The 2015-16 school year is off to a great start with several new employees already hard at work. New faculty and staff members include the following people: Mallory Bolduan (Middle School Social Studies Teacher and Head High School Volleyball Coach), Margaret Lilley (High School Family and Consumer Science Teacher), Chris Eckrich (Junior High Football Coach), Farah Guetter (Elementary Special Education Teacher), Jake Head (Junior High Wrestling Coach), Dan Schleisman (Assistant High School Softball Coach), and Kelsy Tech (Assistant High School Volleyball Coach). In addition, long-time high school mathematics teacher, Bud Korver, will be serving as our interim high school Project-Lead-the-Way (PLTW) teacher and I will be teaching a high school German class. When the opportunity presents itself, please join me in welcoming the new employees into our school community. The summer of 2015 was another busy time in terms of buildings and grounds maintenance improvement projects. I want to extend a special “thank you” to our director of buildings and grounds, Jim Ettleman, and staff members Harry Cowgill, Ron Reed, Donna Reed, Byron Bentzen, and DeLon Naig. They, along with our seasonal staff members, did a great job working around and adjusting to summer project inconveniences and also providing access to buildings for various events. Many school districts simply close their doors during the summer and have people turn in their keys in order to eliminate access to buildings. As a school community, I believe we should all be appreciative of the extra effort our buildings and grounds staff members go to in order to allow people to use our facilities during the summer months. Important maintenance tasks that were completed over the summer include the following: (1) elementary ceiling tile and LED lighting project; (2) bus plug-in electrical outlet updating; (3) softball scoreboard repair; (4) middle school HVAC heat exchanger cleanout; (5) high school trophy case and commons LED lighting upgrade; (6) touch-up painting; and (7) floor refinishing and general preparation for the new school year. On the technology front, we were very busy over the summer with a district-wide telephone system upgrade, the delivery and set-up of the new Chromebooks for our one-to-one computing device initiative in grades 5-12, and a server switch upgrade in our middle school technology closet. This fall is shaping up to be a busy time with all of our school activities. I hope to see you at some of our exciting athletic and music events. Come out and cheer for the Eagles!
