Underwood Baseball qualifies for State Tournament

The Underwood baseball team qualified for the 2019 state baseball tournament for the second time in school history. The previous state trip was back in 2014. The Eagles qualified for the state going through a tough district and substate final. They started out their tournament run by beating Shenendoah at home. Underwood then beat Clarinda on the road in a #2 vs. #3 district match-up. With that win they faced, conference rival and the number 6 rated team in the state, Treynor at their place and fought out a great 9 inning win. This moved Underwood into the substate finals vs. the # 9 rated Hinton Blackhawks. Underwood played extremely well scoring 2 in the first and 2 in the fourth to get a 4-3 win and their second trip to the state tournament. Underwood's first-round game at the state tournament will be on Monday, July 29th at 7:00 vs. Van Meter. Games are played at Principal Park in Des Moines.
