Welcome to Music Class

Welcome to all Underwood Elementary School students to a great new year of music activities. The first quarter will be a busy one as we get our 5th grade Band started, prepare students for the Opus Honor Choir, and start to learn songs for our big Grandparents' Day program.
There will be an instrument display for all 5th graders and their parents who are interested in acquiring a band instrument. It will be held on Tuesday, August 24 in the elementary multi-purpose room at 7:00 p.m. I am looking forward to having an awesome beginner band this year, and I will be giving the students more specific information the first day of school.
We will also be organizing our 5th grade choir right away. Our first activity, for those who are interested, will be to learn music for the Opus Honor Choir try-outs which will be done by recording CD's and sending them away. We are looking forward to combining our voices with the 6th graders this year, as Mr. Moe and I team-teach the choirs.
A highlight of our semester is always Grandparents' Day held on November 24 this year. The program is always a special event for students and grandparents alike; our theme this year will be "The Best of Grandparents' Days: 1983-2010".
Please feel free to visit your child's music class any time. Watch for my schedule and a letter to come home with your child the first week of school.
