Twenty-three 2014 Underwood graduating seniors were honored with scholarships awarded May 14 Senior Awards Night at the Underwood High School amounting to $11,500 through Underwood Dollars for Scholars. President Adria Robertson Putnam Thanked the Dollars for Scholars members and all those who provided financial donations, time and talent to make the scholarships possible.
Ten Dollars for Scholars scholarships were presented by President Adria Robertson Putnam and Vice President Cindy Freese to Nate Benson, Lea Crouse, Delaney Fanslau, Audri Higginbotham, Riley Klein, Regan Landen, Wyatt Rasmussen, Jacob Starnes, Brandi Torgerson and Lauren Vandivort.
Pass-through scholarship presentations were: Harley Darrington Scholarship presented to Cade Bracker; J.O.O.I. Optimist Scholarship presented by JOOI Advisor Barb Robertson and JOOI Vice President Erica Goertz to Josie Ausdemore; five U.M.B.A. scholarships presented by Nancy Dose to Jahaila Baker, Taylor Caughey, Colton Bristow, Beth Gunderson and Allison Waters; Underwood Optimist scholarship presented by Barb Robertson to Rachel Landen; two Pioneer Hybrid International Scholarships presented to Jessica Low and Victoria Martinez; and the Leona Handlen Memorial Scholarship presented by Marilyn Larsen to Adian McKee; Voice of Underwood Scholarship presented by Adian McKee to Danny Bohbot and Dennis Fredricksen Memorial Scholarship presented by Cathe McKee to Mitchell Forrester.
Underwood Dollars for Scholars is a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides Underwood School District graduating seniors with financial scholarships to help them pursue higher education. This is the organizations’ fifth year. Funds for the scholarships come from the group’s fundraisers, donations and people or organizations that may provide pass through scholarships. Underwood Dollars for Scholars is asking the Underwood School District supporters to please help them provide an opportunity to invest in our greatest resource, our youth. Please help them make a difference and join the effort. Underwood Dollars for Scholars final meeting for the school year was Monday, May 19 and will resume meetings September 15.
