Jazz Band Performs at WIC Festival
On Wednesday, January 16th The Underwood Jazz Band participated in the annual Western Iowa Conference (WIC) Jazz Festival.
After weather canceled the Bluffs Jazz Festival the previous Saturday the young band was ready to hit the stage and show what they have been working on since last November.
While the band did not place they received excellent feedback from the judges and earned three outstanding soloist awards.
Senior Maggie Bashore on Trombone, Sophmore Maddie Pierce on Alto Saxophone, and Freshman Kaleb Ask on Drumset.
This year's band is especially young. The 18 students are comprised of four seniors, one junior, five sophomores, five freshmen, and three eighth graders.
The band rehearses every morning from 6:45am - 7:45am, M, W, and every other Friday.
