Students Experience Great Outing at Owen Industries
Students went on a job tour at Owen Industries on November 15. Owen Industries is a metal fabrication company that makes steel that goes in bridges, buildings, and farm equipment to name a few things. They have the only apprentice welding program in the states of Iowa and Nebraska. Employees can be hired to go through a 2-year welding program that the company pays for, and it is onsite schooling. A teacher from Iowa Western comes to the plant to teach the employees, who then have a job with the company at the end of 2 years, if desired. The company does painting of the steel as well.
