On-Site Return-to-Learn Plan Approved by the Board

ON-SITE RETURN-TO-LEARN PLAN UNDERWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FALL OF 2021 (BOARD APPROVED ON JULY 12, 2021) All students will attend school in-person/all-day/everyday when classes begin on Monday, August 23, 2021. Masks will not be required and sneeze guards will not be used at the elementary. The school district will remain vigilant regarding potential surges in COVID-19 positivity rates among students and/or employees. We will follow the guidance of the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Pottawattamie County Department of Public Health, the Iowa Governor’s Office, and the Iowa Department of Education. Adjustments will be made according to guidance from these departments. Communication regarding any changes will be shared through emails, JMC all-calls, and/or published on the school website. ON-SITE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES UNDERWOOD COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FALL OF 2021 (BOARD APPROVED ON JULY 12, 2021) A. Parents, Students, and Employees 1. Students or employees who become ill while in attendance or at work will be required to be seen by the school nurse. 2. Parents will be notified and required to pick up their ill child within one hour. 3. Students and employees will be asked not to be in attendance until healthy. 4. Students and employees should not attend school if they have a fever. If they develop a fever of 100.3 or above while at school, they will be required to go home and not return until they are symptom-free without medication for 24 hours. 5. Parents should report pre-existing conditions and health concerns to the school nurse before the school year begins. 6. Parents are required to report all student absences to the school and why the students are not in attendance. B. Cleaning and Disinfecting 1. Bathrooms, classrooms, and shared items such as doors, lunch tables, and gym equipment will be cleaned and disinfected as needed throughout the day. 2. Hand sanitizer will be available in several locations throughout the school buildings. 3. School vehicles will be disinfected before and after all routes and trips. C. Communication 1. Communication regarding any changes will be shared through emails, JMC all-calls, and/or the school website.
