APRIL 2022 DISTRICT DISPATCH
On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, we will be having prekindergarten round-up and kindergarten round-up at our elementary school. Prekindergarten round-up will begin at 9:00 a.m. and kindergarten round-up will begin at 10:15 a.m. The elementary office is presently in the process of identifying prekindergarten and kindergarten students for the 2022-23 school year. You don’t need to wait until round-up time to register your child for prekindergarten or kindergarten. If you know that your child or grandchild will be five-years-old on or before September 15, 2022, please call the elementary office to inquire about registering for kindergarten. Our kindergarten program is an all-day program that lasts the entire year. If you know your child or grandchild will be four-years-old on or before September 15, 2022, please call the elementary office to inquire about registering for prekindergarten. Unlike kindergarten, prekindergarten is voluntary and not required. Our prekindergarten program is a half-day program which lasts the entire school year.
Our elementary school was one of several elementary schools in the State of Iowa that had student artwork on display at the 2022 Youth Art Month Student Art Show at the Iowa State Historical Building in Des Moines during the month of March. This annual event celebrates the rich visual arts tradition in Iowa school districts and encourages students to be creative. Over 500 works of student art were on display. Our elementary art teacher, Liz Lyons, did a great job promoting this event locally and was very pleased when she learned that five of our elementary students had artwork selected for display. Those five students are Alexis Blodgett, Blakely Ridder, Emerson Willard, Jax Hiller, and Callan Teten. Congratulation students and thank you, Mrs. Lyons, for all of your hard work.
Please note that we will be having a 1:30 p.m. dismissal on Thursday, April 14, 2022. In addition, there is no school on Friday, April 15, 2022, or on Monday, April 18, 2022, because of spring break.
