Fall Activities Game Guidelines (Fans)

Underwood Community Schools

Fall Game Expectations for COVID-19 Prevention

Extra-curricular activities are a choice to attend. We completely understand if you do not wish to attend events. If you choose to attend events the following mitigation efforts are required to help ensure player, coach, and spectator safety:

❏ Posted signage prominently indicating no one should attend or participate in games if they currently have symptoms or have been in contact with anyone with a confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in the last 14 days.

❏ Players should use their own equipment as much as possible.

❏ Coaches must sanitize shared equipment before and after each game.

❏ Players, coaches, and fans should check their temperatures before attending games. This is the responsibility of the player and coaches and should be done at home before attending. A temperature of 100.3 or above is considered a fever and you should not attend or participate in the event.

❏ Anyone with symptoms of illness is not allowed to participate in or attend the game.

❏ Schools must also implement any other reasonable measures under the circumstances of each school to ensure the social distancing of staff, students, and community members increased hygiene practices, and other public health measures to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 consistent with guidance issued by the IDPH. Each school has the right to impose more stringent guidelines for fans to attend. If attending an away game as a fan plan to have a mask in case that school is requiring you to have one to attend.

❏ Concessions stands are permitted. Concessions will be limited to pre-packaged items only (Pop, water, Gatorade, candy, chips, and items already bagged.) There will be no concession stands at Junior High and some other lower-level events. If the concession stand is not open on a varsity event we will notify fans so they can bring their own items (coolers will not be allowed).

❏ Public Health will be contacted  if a positive case of COVID-19 is reported

  • Admission to all WIC conference games and all football games will be $5.00 for adults and $5.00 for students kindergarten or above and passes will be accepted. We ask that you try to bring exact change if at all possible. Non-conference games and tournaments will have various admission pricing.

Volleyball Specific:

  • Masks are required of all fans, players, and game workers who are not on the team bench for the current game when in the building.
  • All Home games will be Live-Streamed, information will be sent out closer to each game
  • Due to volleyball being an indoor event all WIC schools will be limiting fans to volleyball matches.
  • Each player, or family of players, will receive 4 passes that will allow individuals to come to watch them play. Who those individuals are is up to the player or family. These passes must be shown before an individual enters or pays to get into JH, F, JV, and Varsity volleyball games.
  • Doors will open to JH events at 3:45 for fans. Doors will open a ½ hour before  F/JV/V matches, you will be asked to remain in the commons until the JH games are completed and fans have all left.
  • JH parents, fans, and players will be required to leave the school at the conclusion of the game unless they have a daughter playing on the high school level. We ask that you wait for your child in the parking lot or outdoors and not in the school building so fans for F/JV games can get to their seats.
  • At the completion of the Varsity game, all fans must leave the school building. Parents and fans will not be allowed to wait in the gym or commons for their athletes. We ask that you wait for your child outside the building or in the parking lot.
  • Freshman and JV fans may stay and watch the varsity match following their games.
  • Tournament information will be shared when received. Each event that is not a WIC event may have different guidelines for attendance and masks.
  • We ask for your help in cleaning up the area around where you sit to help our janitorial staff due to the increase in sanitizing we will have to do.

Football Specific:

❏ Bleacher space will be limited at Football games. Every other row will be marked off as not usable. There will be no student section or band section allowed in the stands. Fans should bring their own chairs, blankets, or will need to stand at events. Plan on needing your own chair or blanket for away games.  Fans should practice social distancing between different household units and accept personal responsibility for public health guidelines. Even though this is an outdoor event we are recommending wearing masks when social distancing is not possible.

  • Fans may arrive no earlier than 6:00 for admittance to Varsity football games.
  • Players, coaches, managers, and trainers will have an extended players box on the football field to help with social distancing.
  • No limitation on crowd sizes at this time due to it being an outdoor event.
  • Younger students should not be playing games on the side hills since this space will be used by spectators this year. Please do no bring footballs or soccer balls with you as fans this year.
  • We ask for your help in cleaning up the area around where you sit to help our janitorial staff due to the increase in sanitizing we will have to do.

Thank you for following the guidelines above and making this opportunity for our athletes possible. Please understand that anyone that does not follow the guidelines above may be asked to leave or cause future games to be canceled. Please understand that this opportunity is unique and will be different than a normal season. Refrain from addressing players, coaches, and officials negatively during games to help make this experience run smoothly. We look forward to seeing you all again soon and GO EAGLES!
